The 5th Annual Tłı̨chǫ Gathering and 1st Session of the 2nd Tłı̨chǫ Assembly took place August 4, 5, and 6, 2009 in Behchokǫ̀ at the Cultural Centre.
Annual Gatherings brings citizens together from Behchokǫ̀, Whatì, Gamètì, and Wekweètì to strengthen unity and reaffirm our shared responsibility as Tłı̨chǫ people. It is a time to reflect on the work of the Tłı̨chǫ Government, review priorities, and make decisions that guide our Nation forward.
During the Assembly sessions, leadership and citizens gathered to discuss governance matters, community priorities, and implementation of the Tłı̨chǫ Agreement. The Assembly remains a key forum where Tłı̨chǫ law, accountability, and collective decision-making are carried out in accordance with our Constitution.
The Gathering also creates space for cultural celebration. Drum dances, handgames, feasts, and community activities reinforce language, relationships, and intergenerational knowledge transfer. These moments strengthen identity and connection to Tłı̨chǫ nèèk’è.
The Annual Gathering continues to serve as an important expression of Tłı̨chǫ self-government, where citizens come together not only to celebrate but to exercise their rights and responsibilities as a Nation.
