The 6th Annual Tłı̨chǫ Gathering was held July 6 to 8, 2010, in Gamètì at the Community Government Hall. It also marked the 6th Session of the 2nd Tłı̨chǫ Assembly. This gathering brought Tłı̨chǫ citizens, leadership, Elders, and youth together on the land to strengthen relationships and carry shared responsibilities forward.
The Annual Gathering is a central space for coming together as one people. It creates time for dialogue, decision-making, and community connection. Social, political, and cultural activities took place throughout the three days, grounding governance work in lived experience and collective voice. Leaders reported to citizens, citizens spoke directly to leadership, and priorities were discussed openly.
Hosting the gathering in Gamètì mattered. Being on the land reinforces who we are and where our authority comes from. It reminds you that governance does not sit apart from daily life. It lives in language, family ties, stories, and time spent together. The presence of Elders and families ensured teachings, accountability, and care guided the work.
The 6th Annual Tłı̨chǫ Gathering reflected unity in action. It upheld Tłı̨chǫ ways of gathering, listening, and deciding together. These gatherings continue to affirm self-government as something you live, not just something you talk about, rooted in place, people, and shared responsibility.
